This Okanagan homeowner was unhappy with the look and usefulness of her pantry. There are lots of shelves for storing items, but they were filling up, with a haphazard placement of goods and no system for managing inventory. Cans and containers were piled high, making it a challenge to find something when needed. It was hard to tell if baking ingredients were running low for example.
She asked Wendy to come up with a solution so she could find what she needed for meal preparation, and so that anyone else going into the pantry for a snack could easily locate and access what they wanted, too.
Wendy created "zones" for types of food. She used see-through bins to store cans so they are visible and accessible and at eye level. Bulk ingredients were put in stackable sealed containers that were labeled, to maintain freshness and tidy up. No more bags piled up on the floor. Baking ingredients were also put together in bins, saving space. With these sturdy bins, nothing falls over either - which was a problem with these wire racks.
Now it's much easier for the client to see what she has, for meal planning and for managing inventory. Baskets were used for larger items like chips and cereal boxes, with those foods accessed more frequently now in easier-to-reach locations. Even the dog got his own treat storage basket. All the clutter of containers and lids is now confined to a neatly organized basket. And overstock is now out of the way. The custom labels can be changed as needed.
